Position Title: New Energy Commercial Asset Manager

Location: London Hybrid

Salary: Up to £65,000 + Bonus

Role Objective:

The New Energy division is at the forefront of supporting the transition from finite resources to renewable energy, with a focus on generating sustainable long-term returns. The team invests in the ever-evolving energy landscape, even amidst regulatory uncertainty and complex risks, with an emphasis on four transformative technologies: solar, wind, energy storage, and electric transportation. These investments are underpinned by strong asset backing, a sustainable income yield, and potential for capital growth. This dynamic environment offers ample opportunities for personal and professional development within their specialized alternative asset management framework.

Job Description:

  • Assist the data team in creating dashboards for various company stakeholders.
  • Provide ad-hoc project support, which may include new management systems, construction projects, exploring new revenue opportunities, and optimizing the operational fleet.
  • Support the finance team in invoicing reconciliation.
  • Engage with Route to Market counterparties and monitor various revenue streams.
  • Assist in submissions for monthly or annual auctions.
  • Qualify assets under different NationalgridESO auctions such as CM, DC, etc.
  • Collaborate with another Commercial Asset Manager.
  • Handle front-office tasks, including bidding for various services and finalizing contracts.
  • Manage back-office functions, involving revenue settlement, contract revenues with NG, supplier imbalances, embedded benefits, etc., and liaise with the finance team.
  • Oversee contract and asset management, including managing multiple revenue streams and reconciliations.
  • Manage trading contracts related to commercial operations.
  • Handle direct services or their management through O&M contracts.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and developments, new revenue streams, and flexibility service tenders.
  • This role is primarily hybrid office-based, but occasional travel may be required to customer, supplier, or service partner locations (approximately one day per month).

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant market data experience in trading, optimization, or a regulated environment, and a willingness to be part of a leading BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) organization with ambitious expansion plans.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Educational background in a numerical, technical, financial, or scientific field. Candidates with IT/data science backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Comfortable interacting with teams of all levels, building rapport, and representing the Market Data Commercial Team both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, a 'can-do' attitude, independence, self-prioritization, and a willingness to learn and take ownership of the role.
  • Proficiency in using general office and business information & management systems will be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as the role requires collaboration across various business functions.
