Design and plan electricity distribution networks primarily between LV and 11kV but this can vary up to 33kV, including carrying out upfront feasibility studies to evaluate system design options. You will create a variety of diagrams in line with requirements, including schematic diagrams from basic philosophy and engineer’s sketches, high voltage power cable routing diagrams, detailed schemes and wiring diagrams, and multicore diagram and schedules. You will be creating detailed protection and metering single line diagrams. You will produce earthing studies and create associated drawings for review. Maintain accuracy of designs, including cable entry points into substations with suitable measurements. You will manage & control design changes with clients, IDNO & civils teams. You will ensure compliance with the latest P2 Standards of System Security where
Requirements When you join, you will go through our top-notch induction and onboarding process and have opportunities to develop further through our in-house training academy.
You'll have a proven track record of:
Creating electrical designs up to 11kV (desirable 33kV to 132kV knowledge). Carrying out pre-construction risk assessments and impact studies caused by increased fault levels. Providing technical advice and assistance to other members of staff. Producing specifications to allow Turnkey type contracts to be tendered along with full technical appraisal on tender return. Creating technical specifications for all major plant and equipment, protection and control equipment, and auxiliary equipment such as batteries and LVAC boards. Completing technical reports as required for capital spend approval.
You'll already have experience & qualifications in:
Proficient in the use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc., across multiple platforms such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. Excellent communication, including the ability to adapt communication styles and outstanding listening skills with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to use your initiative as well as work collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent knowledge within the electrical power distribution industry and its standards, practices, and procedures. Expertise and confident ability to design at voltage levels up to 11kV (with exposure to 33kV) in the Power Distribution Industry. A good understanding of DNO G81 or BS7671 Documentation and Design. Extensive knowledge of CDM requirements. Degree in Engineering or similar. City and Guilds qualification. Desire to progress to gain professional registration i.e. IET, IEng, or EngTech. Experience of working in or with a DNO or IDNO. Experience in the utility industry using Amtec and Windebut. Experience in using AutoCAD.
