Understanding Electrical Standards and Regulations
BSEN/IEC Standards: Familiarity with British and International Electrotechnical Commission standards, ensuring designs meet international safety and performance criteria.
National Grid/DNO/ENA Standards: Knowledge of standards set by the National Grid, Distribution Network Operators, and the Energy Networks Association, which govern the design and operation of electrical systems in the UK.

Cable Sizing Calculations
Load Calculation: Determining the electrical load the cable must carry and selecting the appropriate size to handle the load without overheating or causing voltage drops.
Thermal Analysis: Calculating the heat generated in the cables and ensuring it remains within safe limits. This includes understanding thermal resistivity of soil and ambient temperature impacts.

Earthing and Grounding
Earthing System Design: Designing systems to ensure safe dissipation of fault currents into the ground, protecting both equipment and personnel.
Ground Potential Rise (GPR): Analyzing the rise in ground potential during fault conditions and ensuring it remains within safe limits.
