The company is a Top Employer Europe certified and their goal is oversee the company's Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from inception to the delivery of renewable energy assets, encompassing planning approvals and readiness for construction. This role aligns with the company's strategies and standards, ensuring projects are executed optimally to advance the successful execution of the business plan and contribute to the assessment of the German storage market and coordinate all business and technical activities required for developing pertinent storage business cases.
Responsibilities
-Collaborate on identifying suitable geographical locations for constructing BESS projects to contribute to achieving business plan objectives.
-Maintain project progress updates, facilitate information exchange, and ensure goal attainment to monitor ongoing project progress. Establish, cultivate, and manage a network of key stakeholders (including local communities, planning officers, conservation bodies, etc.) while adapting to a dynamic environment.
-Gain comprehensive knowledge of competitors and major participants in the energy sector, propose strategies, identify opportunities (e.g., purchasing, market shifts), anticipate risks and threats to ensure the company's competitive edge. Identify and cultivate potential partnerships with other development companies or key players.
-Oversee projects from opportunity identification/confirmation to handover to the Construction and Asset Management Team, following company processes and tools. Ensure timely delivery and project cost adherence from project initiation through construction to operational launch. Manage technical and environmental studies, permit documentation, technical specification selection, and tender processes. Ensure quality application submissions and close project monitoring. Develop a deep understanding of the business case for BESS and co-located solar/wind projects.
-Supervise and coordinate across teams across project phases (engineering, construction, procurement, financing, M&A, energy assessment, environment, legal consultancy, etc.) and potentially external partners/providers to ensure comprehensive coordination and contribution quality.
-Contribute to defining and updating project budgets, ensuring adherence to delivery timelines and project costs within designated areas. Propose and support investments to meet business unit objectives.
-Represent the company with energy-producing transport and distribution organisations, other industry entities, and public administration/elected officials to advance the company's strategic interests.
Qualification
-University degree in a technical field preferred, with extensive experience in renewables development. Other relevant qualifications will also be considered.
-Years of experience in solar or onshore wind development, ideally in developer or consultancy roles.
-Experience with BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects, including standalone or co-located with solar/onshore wind in Germany.
-Valuable experience includes stakeholder consultation/management, familiarity with the German planning process, and successful delivery of consented, constructible renewable generation assets.
-Experience throughout the full cycle of BESS projects in Germany, with a focus on development; commissioning phase experience is a bonus.
-Proficient in German.
-Fluent in spoken and written English.
-Independent, adaptable, and skilled in various areas.
-Proactive with strong prioritisation abilities.
-Demonstrates autonomous performance and excellent problem-solving skills.
