O&M Manager

The Solar O&M Manager / Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and performance of utility-scale and commercial solar assets while remaining actively involved in fieldwork. This role leads a team s, ensures safe and efficient site operations, and drives system reliability, uptime, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

• Lead, supervise, and mentor a team 

• Plan and assign daily, weekly, and preventive maintenance work schedules

• Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses

• Ensure compliance with company policies, OEM requirements, and regulatory standards

• Support hiring, onboarding, and training of technicians

• Evaluate technician performance and provide coaching and feedback

• Serve as the primary site-level point of contact for operations management

Operations & Maintenance

• Perform and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on PV systems, inverters, trackers, substations, and balance-of-system equipment

• Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical, mechanical, and SCADA-related issues

• Support major repairs, retrofits, and component replacements

• Review system performance data and identify underperforming assets

• Coordinate outage management, switching, and restoration activities

• Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and work orders

• Manage spare parts, tools, and inventory

Safety, Compliance & Quality

• Enforce site safety programs, lockout/tagout, and energized work procedures

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety standards

• Conduct safety audits and incident investigations

• Verify quality of work and adherence to best practices
