Samuel Knight Energy is partnering with an established and fast-growing renewable energy services platform to appoint a senior commercial leader to drive national growth across operations & maintenance, energy storage, and EV infrastructure services.
The Opportunity
Our client is a well-capitalised, privately operated services business supporting utility-scale and large C&I renewable assets across North America. With a strong reputation for safety, technical excellence, and long-term asset performance, the business is entering its next phase of expansion and is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead this growth.
This role sits on the senior leadership team and carries full responsibility for new customer acquisition strategy, revenue growth, and commercial execution across multiple service verticals. The successful candidate will act as a player-coach, leading and developing a national BD function while personally originating, negotiating, and closing complex service agreements with owners, developers, and OEMs.
Key Responsibilities

Own and execute national business development strategy across renewable O&M, storage, and EV infrastructure

Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing business development team

Originate and close new long-term service agreements in utility-scale and C&I markets

Drive pipeline management, forecasting, and performance using CRM and KPIs

Lead commercial responses including RFPs, proposals, and negotiated contracts

Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Legal, and Executive Leadership

Maintain senior-level relationships with strategic customers and key accounts

Provide market intelligence, competitive insight, and strategic input to leadership

Support annual planning, forecasting, and growth initiatives
Candidate Profile

10+ years in senior-level business development within power generation or renewable energy

Proven success closing service, O&M, or lifecycle contracts (not EPC-only sales)

Experience across utility-scale solar, energy storage, wind, or EV infrastructure

Demonstrated leadership experience managing and scaling commercial teams

Strong commercial acumen with deep understanding of service contracts and terms

Comfortable operating in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments

Strong executive presence, negotiation skills, and stakeholder management

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
