International Day of Clean Energy

Today is the first ever officially recognised International Day of Clean Energy - 26/01/2024

As declared by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly. The day is for raising awareness and mobilise action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet.

The renewable energy market is an extremely volatile market across the entire globe right now & likely will continue to expand into the future. Following the close of COP28 in late 2023, where 130 countries signed up to "work together to triple the world’s installed renewable energy generation capacity to at least 11,000 GW by 2030", eyes are now fixed on world governments to put plans & words to action.

A fundamental aspect of addressing the climate crisis, which persistently inflicts irreversible harm on the Earth's ecosystem, is enhancing energy efficiency. The United Nations emphasizes that, to avert warming beyond the critical 1.5°C threshold associated with severe climate change impacts, we must annually decrease emissions by 7.6% from the present until 2030.

The world needs to pool together, now more than ever, if we are to achieve this ambitious target. Many steps are already being taken in the correct direction but there is still a long way to go & we all have vital roles to play – corporations & individuals alike!

So whilst we celebrate today, it is important to remember that many challenges still lie ahead. Samuel Knight are proud to work in the industry we do & provide what support we can for both clients & candidates. Together, we can create a world powered by sustainable and environmentally friendly sources, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
