Samuel Knight are taking part in the 2022 CEO Sleepout
The senior management team at Samuel Knight are proud to be taking part in the Newcastle CEO Sleepout, at St James Park on 24th March 2022, uniting with business leaders from across Tyneside to help fight homelessness in the region.
What is CEO Sleepout?
CEO Sleepout is a charity set up to fight homelessness, funded with money raised by big hearted business leaders. To date they’ve funded over 100 hard-working charities on the frontline of homelessness, changing countless lives.
Why is it so important?
Imagine if you had no home, no food, and nowhere that you felt safe. That’s the nightmare facing the 250,000 people who are homeless today in the UK. Recent studies show the shocking truth around homelessness in England:
- Over 250,000 people in England are homeless and in temporary accommodation
- Over 61% of adults in England living in temporary accommodation are women
- Single parents make up 72% of all homeless families living in temporary accommodation, but only 24% of families
- 1 in 23 black households become homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless, compared to 1 in 83 households from all other ethnicities
- 24% of young homeless people in the UK are LGBT+
- More than half (55%) of people who make a homeless application are aged between 16 and 34

By participating in a CEO Sleepout event, companies gain insight into the issues surrounding homelessness alongside like-minded business leaders. Sleeping on the ground for a night may be a little cold and uncomfortable, but it will be worth it as the funds raised could change somebody’s life.
Samuel Knight participated in the previous CEO Sleepout event at St James Park, raising an amazing total of £1,000! However this year we are aiming to smash that and at the time of writing are currently the biggest fundraisers so far for the Newcastle Sleepout!
We have been fundraising within the business this month too, holding a bake off on Valentines Day, which saw Finance Officer, Lynne take the crown for her Aero cheesecake!
