Estimator
About The Role Overview
As an Estimator, it is your responsibility to provide competitive tenders for Architectural Projects as well as assist with Civils Projects, meeting strict tender deadlines and client requirements; complying with Estimator's strict company policies and guidelines. Securing work to supply the operations teams. This includes assessing the costs associated with materials, labour, plant, subcontract, and other resources required for successful project completion.
Key Role Deliverables
• Provide competitive tenders for Architectural (structure, cladding and roofing) for a varied client base.
• Assist with competitive tenders for Civils (groundworks, utilities, foundations) and fit-out for a varied client base.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain comparable and comprehensive proposals. Create and maintain a database of approved subcontractors in collaboration with our Procurement Department.
• Maintain communication between Estimating and Operations for realistic tenders, before and after tender issue.
• Provide support to Pre-Construction Department for pricing additional items, variations, and alternative rates for ongoing projects.
• Provide accurate take-offs for provided bills or creating new measured bills according to standard bill structures and methods of measurement.
• Keep the estimating team up to date with outgoing tenders and provide information at weekly meetings.
• Maintain accurate records of pricing information, quotes, and historical data for future reference.
• Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the estimation process and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Attend sites monthly for regular updates on actual costs as well as the latest methods and construction equipment/resources. Stay informed about market trends, industry standards, and pricing fluctuations for construction materials and services.
• Any other reasonable requests as required by Management.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience
• Educated to National Diploma level, ideally construction-based.
• Suitable experience in a similar role for a minimum of 3 years.
• Suitable experience working within relevant sectors.
• Suitable experience working with estimating software packages.
Essential and Desirable Skills
• Essential experience in above-ground projects i.e., buildings, Structural frame (concrete or steel, Architectural cladding, roofing, and other elements.
• Knowledge in MEP.
• Advantage if there is experience with datacentre projects in other sectors.
• Technical knowledge of architectural design to be able to review and understand all enquiry documentation.
• Time management skills and flexibility for planning and prioritizing tasks.
• Managing a number of complex issues within tight and unpredictable time frames.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good understanding of Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Good working skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Good working skills in Navisworks or similar 3D software.
• Good understanding of estimating principles.
