Construction Manager (Contract) – Hyperscale Data Center Projects
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the delivery of hyperscale data center projects for a Hyperscaler The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing field execution, contractor coordination, schedule adherence, safety compliance, quality assurance, and project reporting throughout all phases of construction. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of mission-critical facilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Hyperscale stakeholders, design teams, general contractors, trade partners, and commissioning teams.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience delivering large-scale data center, mission-critical, industrial, or complex infrastructure projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Management
- Lead day-to-day construction activities across assigned data center projects.
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate field activities among general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Ensure construction work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
- Support project planning, sequencing, logistics, and constructability reviews.
Schedule & Cost Control:
- Monitor project schedules and identify risks, delays, and recovery opportunities.
- Track progress against key milestones and provide accurate reporting to project leadership.
- Participate in schedule reviews, look-ahead planning, and risk mitigation discussions.
- Review contractor change requests and assist in evaluating impacts to scope, budget, and schedule.
Safety Leadership:
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with Hyperscaler and site-specific EHS requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and contractor safety reviews.
- Ensure all work activities comply with applicable regulations, permits, and company policies.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation when required.
Quality Management:
- Verify installation quality and workmanship throughout construction activities.
- Support QA/QC inspections and turnover processes.
- Coordinate resolution of field issues, deficiencies, and non-conformance reports.
- Ensure project documentation and inspection records are maintained accurately.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Serve as a primary field representative between Hyperscaler project teams and construction contractors.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and communicate project status to key stakeholders.
- Support design clarifications, RFIs, submittals, and field change management.
- Collaborate closely with commissioning and operations teams to ensure successful project turnover.
Project Reporting:
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Track construction KPIs, safety metrics, schedule performance, and quality indicators.
- Maintain accurate site records, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
- Escalate critical issues and risks to project leadership in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of construction management experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center projects.
- Proven experience managing contractors and field execution on complex construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, scheduling, cost control, and quality management.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience delivering hyperscale data center projects.
- Experience working on Google, AWS, Microsoft, Meta, or other mission-critical campus developments.
- Familiarity with commissioning, startup, and turnover processes.
- Experience with Primavera P6, Procore, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms.
- Background in mechanical, electrical, or civil construction disciplines.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
- PMP, CCM, or other construction management certifications.

Work Environment:
- Full-time contract position.
- Primarily site-based at active Hyperscale data center construction projects.
- Travel may be required based on project location and assignment needs.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced construction environment with multiple stakeholders.

- Contract Duration: Project-based (6–24+ months depending on assignment).
- Location: Data Center Project Sites.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly or daily rate based on experience and project requirements.
