Project: Hyperscale Data Center Program
Location: Project Site (Travel Required)
Reports To: Construction Manager / Project Director
Position Summary
The Electrical Lead is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of all electrical works associated with the construction and commissioning of hyperscale data center projects for our client. This role provides technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring electrical systems are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Electrical Lead will coordinate closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, quality, and client teams while managing electrical subcontractors to achieve successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead all electrical construction activities from mobilization through commissioning and handover.
- Manage the installation of:
- Medium Voltage (MV) distribution systems
- Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems
- UPS systems
- Generator systems
- Switchgear and busway systems
- Transformers
- Power Monitoring Systems (PMS)
- Grounding and lightning protection systems
- Lighting and small power
- Critical power infrastructure supporting hyperscale data halls.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, method statements, and installation procedures.
- Ensure installations comply with approved design documentation and applicable codes and standards.
Construction Management
- Coordinate electrical subcontractors and suppliers.
- Develop and monitor electrical construction schedules.
- Identify and mitigate construction risks.
- Manage interfaces with mechanical, civil, architectural, and controls disciplines.
- Support procurement by reviewing technical submittals and material approvals.
- Track installation progress and report project status to senior management.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all electrical works meet project quality requirements.
- Conduct inspections and audits.
- Manage punch list completion.
- Support Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Ensure compliance with:
- NEC / IEC standards
- NFPA requirements
- Local electrical regulations
- Client specifications
- Company quality procedures.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Promote a strong safety culture across all electrical activities.
- Ensure compliance with project HSE procedures.
- Lead toolbox talks and electrical safety briefings.
- Support Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) implementation.
- Ensure safe energization practices.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
Testing & Commissioning
- Support development of electrical commissioning plans.
- Coordinate pre-functional inspections.
- Witness FATs and SATs where required.
- Manage energization activities.
- Coordinate integrated systems testing.
- Support Level 1–5 commissioning activities.
- Assist with final client acceptance and project handover.
Stakeholder Management
- Interface with:
- Client representatives
- Design consultants
- Utility providers
- Commissioning teams
- Vendors
- General contractor leadership
- Attend coordination meetings and provide technical guidance on electrical issues.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review RFIs and technical queries.
- Prepare progress reports.
- Review as-built documentation.
- Maintain construction records.
- Support turnover package development.
- Ensure documentation is complete for client handover.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
Experience
- 8–15 years of electrical construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years delivering mission-critical or hyperscale data center projects.
- Strong experience with:
- MV/LV systems
- UPS systems
- Backup generation
- Switchgear
- Bus duct systems
- Transformers
- Data center electrical infrastructure.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors on large EPC or design-build projects.
Technical Knowledge
- Electrical distribution systems up to 33kV.
- Data center redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N, 2N+1).
- Critical power systems.
- Commissioning processes.
- BIM coordination.
- Electrical testing procedures.
- QA/QC documentation.
- Construction sequencing.
- Utility coordination.

- On-time completion of electrical milestones.
- Quality installations with minimal rework.
- Successful energization and commissioning.

- Complete and accurate project turnover documentation.
Working Environment
- Site-based role with regular travel as required.
- Work may involve extended hours during critical project phases, commissioning, and energization activities.
- Must be comfortable working in active construction environments and coordinating multiple disciplines simultaneously.
